Marion Barnett

Marion Barnett is a licensed psychotherapist (MFT) in private practice devoted to working with individuals and families who may be: depressed, anxious, have chronic or acute physical illness, or troubling life transitions.

Ms. Barnett is a graduate of the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco and has worked successfully for eight years with clients helping them learn new coping strategies and more effective life tools.

Ms. Barnett came to the SBDC in May 2008 having launched a new psychotherapy practice and requiring assistance in developing her business plan and marketing strategy.

Ms. Barnett worked with an SBDC Business Advisor to develop and implement a strategic business and marketing plan.  With the support of these strategic frameworks, Ms. Barnett, a talented tactician, achieved a number of significant business milestones for her new practice.

Ms. Barnett obtained seven contracts with health care providers including a contract to provide educational series for local health care members on living with chronic illness and a monthly support group.  Ms. Barnett was awarded a contract by the Department of Defense to work through health care organization with the Department of Defense to provide counseling consultations to service members and families.

Ms. Barnett also gave a presentation on working with individuals with chronic illness at a Marin professional organization meeting, and also had articles published with a local health care organization, and a Marin professional organization regarding self care for therapists.
